What is a general practice?
The Law Firm of Shahily Negrón, Esq. is a general practice law firm that has the ability to handle a wide range of legal matters without necessarily being specialized in a specific area of the law. The term “general practice” is used to refer to general areas of the law as opposed to specialized areas of the law. For example, a general practice attorney can represent a client in court, handle contract negotiations and provide legal support concerning common legal issues faced by people living in the community.
I find that when a client is faced with a common legal issue overlapping with other areas of the law, they may be better off working with a general practice lawyer. For instance, a divorce case may spill into a criminal case for domestic violence. A general practice lawyer who understands family law and criminal law will be a better choice for a client since one lawyer can handle both matters. Every case is unique, therefore an assessment is the best place to start.
